Mood Board: Dream Foyer

As you all know by now, interior design is one of my (many) hobbies.  Over the past year, my taste has changed and evolved.  Many a blog posts, magazine, and books have helped me define my personal style, which is actually a bit different than you see in my present day home.  I definitely love vivid colors, ecclectic mismatches, modern furniture, organic touches and a subtle retro feel.

Recently, I've begun creating mood boards that capture the look of my future home (in theory).  I extract my favorite elements from every kind of online store imaginable, from affordable big boxes like Target to pricier places like Crate and Barrel to lesser known shops like Echo Design and piece together mosaics.

Tonight I made a mood board for my dream foyer.  The focal point of the entrance is a wall lined with playful orange tulip wallpaper.  For furniture, there's a curvy, antique-inspired black dresser and a luxurious silver chair with mustard yellow upholstery.  You can check the starburst mirror, placed over the dresser, to make sure you don't have lipstick on your teeth before heading out the door.  Don't forget your keys, which rest in that mod aluminum round tray.  Your tootsies will love sinking into the soft shagginess of the neutral Flokati rug.  And no room could be complete without some well-chosen accessories, including an olive green bubble glass lamp, a kitty photo and a contemporary floral arrangement.
